STEVE KUHLMAN is responsible for sales and marketing for Ascender. This involves overseeing the licensing of Ascender’s fonts and software products to companies that distribute them in hardware or software products. In addition Steve is responsible for licensing Ascender’s products to companies using them on servers with server based applications or on internal workstations within an organization. Steve is also involved with Ascender’s numerous web commerce activities.
Prior to joining Ascender Corporation, Steve was Vice President and General Manager for Monotype Imaging’s Display Imaging team. During this time he was responsible for providing text and imaging solutions for the consumer electronics and embedded device market.
Steve has also been actively involved in monitoring and protecting intellectual property rights. This involved proactively locating and investigating potential infringements of copyrights, patents and trademarks and then directing the appropriate steps to rectify the infringements.

Steve has also been responsible for licensing fonts to the professional graphic design community and was instrumental in planning and implementing CD-ROM and web-based distribution strategies for fonts and software.
Steve was involved in starting Monotype Typography, Inc., a startup division of a Monotype Typography, Ltd., a UK-based company with origins in the printing and typography industries dating back to 1897. Steve was involved with leading the sales and marketing team that was responsible for overseeing the licensing of fonts and software to graphic design professionals and independent software vendors. Steve was also involved in the negotiation of the sale of Monotype to Agfa in 2000.
Before Steve joined Monotype, he worked at Apple Computer in its sales organization. Steve earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from Northern Illinois University.
When not propagating the world with fonts and software, Steve spends his time with his wife and two children. Steve has been participating in the Big Brother mentoring program since 1999. He also tries to stay active by running, biking and doing Tae Kwon Do with his children.
